About this blog

Gut health has become a buzzword these days, and for good reason. An ever-growing pile of scientific studies shows that the health of your gut can affect the health of your whole body. But these scientific papers can be a bit too ‘sciencey’ and complicated for someone who doesn’t come from a science background.

Gut health is also a trending topic in popular media and social media and many ‘influencers’ try to teach you various tips and tricks to ‘heal your gut’.

But the problem is most of these claims about ‘gut detoxes’ and ‘gut healing supplements’ are far from being scientifically accurate. Only a handful of these articles use credible sources and most of them are just unfounded hype targeting views, likes, or sales.

It’s frustrating, but I believe that we, scientists, should equally take the blame. As scientists, it is our responsibility to make real science accessible in a way that is interesting and easy to understand.

That’s exactly what I set out to do with this blog: create science-backed, easy-to-understand content on gut health and gut microbiome that you can rely on.

As an NASM-Certified Nutrition Coach and an AFPA-Certified Gut Health Nutrition Specialist (with a Master’s in Food Science and a Bachelor’s in Microbiology), I will be combining my expertise in these subject areas to create science-based and reliable content on gut health and nutrition.

As a freelance science writer with over a decade of experience and a former research scientist, I will be using my two superpowers—delving into research articles and simplifying complex science in them—to bring you the latest information on gut microbiome studies.

I’m also on my own journey of improving my gut health so I will also be documenting the insights and experiences I gain along the way.

Here in this blog, I will talk about basics of gut microbiome, how gut microbiome can affect your health, and how you can improve your gut health through nutrition and lifestyle modifications.

At the end of each blog post, you will find links to each and every source I used in writing the blog post so you can go ahead and check them out if you are interested in learning more. Please reach out to me if you need any further information—I’ll be happy to help.

Enjoy!
